Introductory Skills Weekend

This three-day workshop is held each fall at Camp Caribou in Winslow,
Maine. The workshop provides participants with the opportunity to complete four 3 1/2 hour sessions throughout
the weekend on topics of their choosing that are related to hunting, fishing or outdoor recreation. An average of 100
participants attend the workshop each year hailing from throughout New England.
Camp Caribou offers the perfect location for the workshop. Located on majestic Pattee Pond, the camp is surrounded by 200 acres of
wooded land. The facility provides comfortable accomodations in heated bunk-style cabins with invidividual bathrooms
and showers. Camp Caribou also has a beautiful dining lodge, full-size gymnasium, movie theater, ropes course, rifle
and archery ranges and two miles of private lake frontage.
Some of the sessions offered at the Intro Skills Weekend include topics such as: firearms use
and range safety, marksmanship, archery, bow hunting, ropes course, outdoor cooking, kayaking, canoeing, basic and advanced
fishing, fly casting, outdoor survival, wilderness first aid, small motorboat handling, map and compass, GPS, outdoor photography,
forest ecology, wild edibles, bucks and does, waterfowl hunting, fly tying, turkey hunting and much more!
The workshop features numerous dedicated and knowledgeable volunteer instructors who work hard
to provide participants with a safe, exciting and informative experience.
Attending the BOW Intro Skills Weekend is a great way to learn new skills, meet new friends,
gain self-confidence and most importantly, have fun!
